Northern FanCon reaches $100,000 Kickstarter goal

FanCon is here to stay in Prince George.

Just a couple of hours before their deadline of 1:23 p.m. Sunday afternoon, organizers reached their $100,000 Kickstarter goal.

After a decline in attendance last year, organizers launched the Kickstarter at the end of August to ensure the financial security for the event in Prince George.

With 24 hours to go, organizers were still a fair amount away from their goal but didn’t lose hope of making the total.

“That is how a story goes. You get to that point where it looks like you are not going to make it, but I have absolute faith in our community and in our supporters that we will actually hit that target on the weekend,” stated Organizer Norm Coyne to CKPG this past Thursday.

When the deadline of 1:23 p.m. hit Sunday, they had hit $103,322.

As a result, FanCon 2020 is a go and will take place from May 8-10th.
