There was a bit of a younger crowd on UNBC campus Saturday as the school welcomed some potential future students with its annual Discovery Day.

When looking for a place to continue their education, high school students have a number of options across the province and here locally, UNBC showed potential future students what it means to be a Timberwolve with its annual Discovery Day over the weekend.

“Discovery Day is our annual Fall open house,” shared Director of Student Recruitment Dennis Stark.

“We invite all prospective students. Not just high school students.Transfer students, mature learners, and those interested in higher education, such as graduate degrees and PHD’s, to come to campus and take it all in.”

Students from all over B.C attended this year’s discovery day and as a result, UNBC saw a massive increase in attendees.

“This is the 2nd year of hosting Discover Day in this format and we have doubled our attendance,” added Stark.

Organizers weren’t expecting as high of a number when it came to attendees, but it will change how they plan the event moving forward as they know days like Discovery Day are vital to attracting students.

This year’s Discovery Day was also held on the same weekend as the Artisans of the North fair on campus, and moving forward, Stark and the rest of the organizers are going to work to have future Discovery Days on weekends where they have the entire campus at their disposal.
