Site C Hydroelectric project
$104.6 million realignment on Hwy 29 awarded

FORT ST. JOHN–The contract to build a two-lane realignment on Highway 29 northwest of Fort St. John has been awarded.
The $104.6-million construction project was given to Eiffage-Infracon Halfway River Joint Venture. The work consists of 3.7 kilometres of the new two-lane highway and the construction of a news one-kilometre long bridge crossing the Halfway River, 500 metres north of the current structure.
The project located 45 km northwest of Fort St. John, and is one of several realignments planned along Highway 29. The work is being completed as part of BC Hydro’s Site C hydroelectric project. Construction for the Halfway River segment will begin this winter with the completion of the segment is expected for the fall of 2022.
