New housing for the Lheidli T’enneh
SHELLEY — Members of the Lheidli T’enneh were on hand today (Nov.1) for a special ribbon cutting.
Three 914 square foot houses are now complete on the Shelley side, with three more under construction on the Landooz Road side of the river.
All six will be rented to Band members. The houses are part of a social housing endeavour by the Band, the federal government and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
LTN Housing Manager Wendy Jael says the homes are the most energy efficient available and include wider hallways and doorways for people with mobility challenges. Construction on the units began in May.
