Special Council meeting about the downtown
PRINCE GEORGE – Mayor and Council went a bit off-script during last night’s regular Council meeting. Mayor Lyn Hall spoke at length about what services the City provides currently, such as two Bylaw Services officers, the Downtown Clean Team, the Downtown Safety Unit are just some examples. And, by the end of this year, it is expected the City will have spent $1.5 million dollars on services for the downtown.
He says the fact Parks staff is having to clean up camps, dirty needles, faeces is “concerning” to him.
“We are not turning a blind eye to this,” he said.
Councillor Frank Everett noted the federal and provincial governments “need to step up.”
