It is with great sadness that the family of Calvin Ritchie Janfield and his AiMHi family, announce his passing on Tuesday, December 31st, at the age of 56 years. Calvin will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Donelda (Al) Fiddler; his sisters, Tamara (Randy) Meehan, Wendy (Ernest) Fehr; his brothers, Robin (Manon) Janfield and Jamie (Paula) Janfield as well as his numerous nieces and nephews and long term AiMHi roommate. Calvin was predeceased by his father Alfred (Cora Lee) Janfield and his brother Timothy (Jephony) Janfield. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing first responders, ER and ICU staff, physicians and social workers at UHNBC, for their wonderful care throughout Calvin’s time there.
Due to health concerns, Calvin became a part of the AiMHi family many years ago, eventually moving into Residential Care. Over the years as staff have changed, they continued to be a part of his life.
Calvin was a jack of trades having worked at many different jobs, most recently at 7-11, and delivering papers and flyers for the Citizen. He led a very full life which included volunteering at Value Village and spending time as part of the AiMHi Value Village pick up crew. He also participated in fundraising for Adventure Odyssey and the Heart and Stroke Foundation as a rider on the Big Bike Ride; a cause near to his heart.
Calvin will always be remembered as a big, gentle man with an even bigger heart, who had a kind and generous spirit. Calvin would give the shirt off his back to anyone who wanted it. He was always happy and never had a gruff word to say. He especially oved to watch wrestling and hockey and going to movies.
Calvin will be extremely missed by everyone that knew him and will be forever in their thoughts.
A Celebration of Calvin’s life will be held at AiMHi, January 7th at 1:00pm; 950 Kerry Street, Prince George, BC, with Pastor Edwin Drewlo officiating.
