Unifor picket lines reach Prince George as Co-op labour dispute continues
PRINCE GEORGE — Pickets have been drawn at the Tidewater refinery in Prince George as the labour dispute continues between Co-op and Unifor. The dispute has now reached 70 days.
Now a mediator has been appointed. Mediation is set to begin February 19th and will span 20 days, but it’s not certain this will lead to a resolution.
Solidarity in Prince George and across western Canada as nearly 800 members of Unifor Local 594 remain locked out from the Co-op Refinery in Regina. Negotiations have been going on for about a year, with pensions being the key point workers are bargaining for. As secondary pickets continue to be put up, those currently out of work are traveling to the new slew of lines.
CKPG did reach out to Co-op for comment but they have not responded.
