Champ trots off to The Exploration Place

PRINCE GEORGE — The Northern has now closed for good but one of the reasons the store was so memorable will be sticking around, just in a different location.
Champ the Horse is heading off to his new home at The Exploration Place. He is one of over 130 artifacts, photos, and archives moving to the local museum. It will all be showcased in a 2021 exhibit honouring The Northern.
Champ may also be set back up for kids to ride. Tracy Calogheros, CEO of The Exploration Place, said the goal is to have Champ out for viewing at Christmas. Champ will be assessed to see how much ridership he can handle and what would be realistic for him moving forward, Calogheros also noted a replica may be the solution for ridership to handle the traffic seen at The Exploration Place.
