Delorme happy to be back on the ice

It hasn’t been an easy season for 19-year-old Spruce Kings forward Haydn Delorme.

The pride of Port Moody B.C has faced plenty of adversity in the 2019-2020 hockey season as he missed the entire first half of the campaign with mono.

“It was brutal,” shared Delorme.

“It was so frustrating. 19-year-old in the Western Hockey League, it’s a pretty big year and yeah it sucks.”

Delorme was a member of the Portland Winterhawks last season.

The Spruce Kings acquired Delorme’s rights ahead of the January 10 trade deadline from the Coquitlam Express.

Since then the 19-year-old has played in 14 games for the Kings this season and has contributed 4 goals and 2 assists.

This included arguably his best game of the season this past Saturday against his former team where he scored in the 2nd period and then followed it up in the shootout with a beautiful goal to keep the skills competition alive.

Delorme and the Spruce Kings will kick off their 1st round playoff series Friday night in Trail against the Smoke Eaters.
