Local boy skated his way to success at BC Winter Games

PRINCE GEORGE – Benjamin Konwicki came home from Fort St. John with four medals and the W.R. Bennett Award after competing in speed skating at the BC Winter Games.
The speed skater won one gold, two silvers, and one bronze medal. He also won the W.R. Bennet Award which is an award for Athletic Excellence and is awarded to one outstanding athlete at the games. The award includes a $2500 bursary which can go towards the direct sport or towards post-secondary school.
Konwicki is thirteen years old and has been speed skating for six years. He got into speed skating after watching the 2014 Sochi Olympic games and fell in love with the sport instantly.
