Seniors are fearful
PRINCE GEORGE – Every morning, a small group of folks put together between forty and fifty meals for seniors in the city to be delivered by the Meals on Wheels program. That is the demographic that is most at-risk from the coronavirus.
“Many of our seniors are panicked,” says Nicole Currie, who runs the Meals on Wheels program for the Council of Seniors. “They’re fearing that services will be stopped and, if they are stopped, what are they going to do.”
But she says the community has been remarkable in trying to help.
he program is run out of the Council of Seniors office. Lola-Dawn Fennell says her clients are panicking as well. But she says “first and foremost” check on your neighbours. She says the Council doesn’t need food donations at this time but does need volunteers.
