VANCOUVER — There have been 92 new cases of coronavirus in British Columbia bringing the province-wide total to 884. Northern Health remains at 12 after no new cases testing positive in the last 24 hours.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC’s Provincial Health Officer, added on a positive note, 45 per cent of BC cases have recovered. Sadly, one more person has died.

Here’s the regional breakdown of cases:

Vancouver Costal Health: 444

Fraser Health region: 291

Vancouver Island Health: 60

Interior Health: 77

Northern Health: 12

“Of the total COVID-19 cases, 81 individuals are currently hospitalized, 52 of those in hospital are in intensive care, and the remaining people who have tested positive for COVID-19 are recovering at home in isolation,” reads a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry adds while we’ve taken a step in the right direction, the number of cases is going to continue to rise and our health system will be put to the test.

Citizens can help by staying at home and practicing physical distancing.

“We must be united at 100 per cent committed to doing all we can to flatten the curve,” adds the Ministry. “Thank you for helping to make a difference and now, more than ever, we need you to keep it up.”
