Updated COVID-19 modelling to be announced later today by federal health officials

OTTAWA—Prime Minister Justin Trudeau began his address to Canadian’s this morning by touching on the state of his mother.

It was believed she was taken to hospital due to an apartment fire earlier this morning. Trudeau said that he spoke with her this morning and that she is doing “just fine.”

The Prime Minister followed by taking a moment to highlight the flooding in Fort McMurray and across Canada, thanking those responding to the floods, as well as Canadians caught in the middle of them, stressing that he knows this is already a difficult time.

According to Trudeau, updated COVID-19 modelling will be announced later today by federal health officials.

A shared principles, agreed upon, federally, provincially and territorially is being created in order to lay out the framework of what needs to happen before we take the next steps against COVID-19 as a country.

Once again Trudeau reiterated that the restarting of the economy will be based on science, and that before we do that there must be enough equipment across the country in workplaces to be able to quickly test for the virus, in order to prevent the spread.

The Prime Minister offered an update on PPE across the nation saying that 6 million surgical masks will be distributed this week across the country.

Trudeau is taking part in a virtual parliament meeting later today.
