UPDATE: 2 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health

VICTORIA—55 new cases of the novel coronavirus were announced at today’s daily COVID-19 update.

With two new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region, bringing the total to 45 cases.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 803
  • Fraser Health: 918
  • Vancouver Island Health: 119
  • Interior Health: 168
  • Northern Health: 45

Two deaths were reported one, in Interior Health and another in Vancouver Coastal Health.

The total number of test positive cases in the province is now at 2,053.

No new longterm care facility outbreaks were reported, with 12 facility outbreaks considered over.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry said that the majority of test positive cases today are related to the outbreaks at two sister poultry processing plants in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions.

46 cases have been identified in the Superior Poultry plant outbreak and 34 at the United Poultry plant.

Two more inmates were identified to be carrying the virus at the Mission Federal Correctional Facility brining the total to 120 inmates who have tested positive, and 12 staff.

1,231 people have recovered from the virus in B.C.
