Le-roy is survived by his wife Laurie Dawn Nelson (Tasker), children Eifa and Julian. His mother Lucie Nelson. His brothers Lee-Al, Dion and Leon. He is predeceased by his father Hilding Nelson.
Le-roy was born in Rosetown Saskatchewan on March 4, 1968. He graduated from DP Todd Secondary School in Prince George in 1986 and also attended Innisdale Secondary in Barrie Ontario. Le-roy carried on the family drywalling business with his brothers Leon and Dion and his father until he was no longer able to work.
Le-roy enjoyed life. He was funny, positive and had a kind simple soul that wanted nothing more than to be happy. He was an accomplished athlete playing volleyball and basketball throughout high school. He went on to play professional beach volleyball with his brother Leon until 2001. He loved his kids and family and was a devoted father. Le-roy loved to make memories with his friends and family, and could always be found making people laugh.
Brother You gave no one a last farewell, nor ever said good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.
A million times we will miss you. A million times we will cry.
If love alone could have saved you, you would have never died.
In life we loved you dearly. In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place, no one else can fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God took you home.
We will meet again someday. I know in a better place.
I thank God he made you our brother, while you were here on Earth.
A celebration of Le-Roy’s life will be held in Prince George at a later date.
