Human remains discovered west of Quesnel
QUESNEL — The BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit, Quesnel RCMP, and the BC Coroners Service is investigating after human remains were discovered in a rural area of Quesnel on May 6.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., the remains were found in roughly 40 kilometres west of the city near the Nazko Highway. The discovery was made by Quesnel detachment investigators and a member of the Prince George Police Dog Section who were following up on information related to Louis Korkowski, a local man reported missing and possibly abducted on May 4.
S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, BC RCMP Media Relations Officer, said in a statement, “We recognize there are many questions and wishes for us to confirm whether or not these are the remains of the man, recently reported missing to the Quesnel RCMP. Our priority at this time is to confirm [the] identity and then to speak with the man’s family.”
Investigators are seeking any information leading up to this man’s death. Witnesses are asked to call the Quesnel RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers.
