UPDATE: 16 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., no new cases in Northern Health

One death was also reported today, bringing B.C.’s total number of deaths to 132. There are currently 385 active cases of COVID-19 across the province.

As of today there are 59 people in hospital, down from 63 yesterday, and 14 people in ICU.

Dr. Bonnie Henry said that as we move into phase two we need to be mindful about expanding our circles. Henry mentioned taking this long weekend to think about who we are going to invite into our circles, and to have conversations with family, and friends who we would like to re-add into our lives. She says that the bigger the circle, the more likely you are to possibly be exposed to COVID-19.

Henry touched on religious services as well, as they will be able to resume as we move into phase two of B.C.’s recovery plan, however, gatherings should stay under 50 people, with physical distancing.

As of today there are 15 outbreaks at longterm care facilities, 299 residents are currently diagnosed with COVID-19.

B.C.’s total number of confirmed cases is at 2,376, with 1,859 recoveries.

Lastly, Henry and Health Minister Dix are asking the public to complete the “Your Story, Our Future,” survey which allows British Columbians to tell their stories about their experience with COVID-19. Over 75,000 people have completed the survey since it was launched yesterday.
