PRINCE GEORGE–EARLIER: The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has released an update on the Pine River Fire, burning off of Hwy.97, just south of Hasler Flats and east of Mackenzie.

The grass fire, reported at around 2:30 p.m. today (May13) has gotten into nearby deciduous and is currently listed as out of control.

The wildfire is around 3 hectares in size and is currently listed as out of control. BCWS says that there are currently six people on site (two local inital attack crews) and that the Fort St. John Unit Crew is on its way.

Requests for an air tanker and a bucketship have been issued, both should be arriving at the site soon.

RCMP are currently on site conducting traffic control, however, the Ministry of Transport should be taking over the task soon.
