Babine Elementary Secondary School makes room for Health Clinic
VANDERHOOF–A portion of Babine Elementary Secondary School will make room on its premise for a Health Clinic.
Northern Health approached School District 91 (Nechako Lakes) last summer to explore the possibility of the re-location of Granisle Health Clinic to Babine Elementary Secondary School. At the 2019 public meeting, the Board of Education passed a motion to allow District staff to explore the possibility of a partnership between the school and clinic, that would place the Health Centre within the school building.
“School-Community partnerships are an integral component of the Board of Education Strategic Plan and the district is optimistic about being part of a positive solution for health care services in Granisle while maintaining sufficient educational space for staff, students and families.”–Press Release SD91
SD91 staff evaluated the existing footprint of the building, the educational needs of students and staff, and enrollment forecasts and came to the determination that part of the school can be turned into an area for a Health Centre, while meeting future the educational requirements.
