Barkerville now open seven days a week

QUESNEL–Barkerville is opening it’s doors back up seven days a week starting today.

The Historic Town and Park had limited their hours of operation to Friday through Monday in June. The park didn’t have any displays or historical interpreters, however, that is changing now that COVID-19 restrictions have loosened throughout the province.

“Our Visitors Centre will be open till 5 p.m. and we will have limited displays open, those that can be traversed still using social distancing.”–James Douglas, Public Programming & Global Media Development Lead, Barkerville Historic Town and Park

“We will be doing something different with our interpretive team. Rather than large presentations for large groups of people…we’ll have interpreters inside of displays, inside of buildings,” added Douglas.

Doors to displays will be open, however, Douglas mentions that there will be security to ensure people do not make their way inside to continue to abide by COVID-19 measures.

Barkerville will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, and the Administration Office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
