PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Prince George RCMP have provided an update on the events leading up to this afternoon’s takedown at 3rd Avenue and Victoria Street.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says just before 12 p.m. members of the RCMP’s Street Crew Unit attempted to execute a traffic stop with a vehicle near the corner of Victoria Street and 15th Avenue. He says the vehicle was associated to a person with outstanding arrest warrants.

“The driver of the vehicle immediately fled north down Victoria Street. In the interest of public safety, officers did not pursue. Moments later, RCMP began receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Vancouver Street. Frontline officers attended and found the suspect vehicle had collided with another vehicle. The male driver fled on foot and then into another vehicle being driven by another male.”

Douglass says that vehicle was located near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Victoria Street. The vehicle was stopped and the two occupants, aged 42 and 31 were taken into custody.

He says the lone occupant of the vehicle that was struck by the suspect vehicle, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

With the investigation in its early stages, police say more information may be released as it becomes available.

Witnesses are asked to call the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300.
