BC Transit to distribute masks in preparation of mandatory masks starting Aug.24

PRINCE GEORGE—BC Transit and the City of Prince George will be handing out masks to the public in the lead up to making masks mandatory aboard transit systems across B.C.

On August 20 and 24, both the City and BC Transit, will distribute masks across the Prince George Transit System. The push for making masks mandatory aboard transit came following the guidance of B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer and WorkSafeBC, along with best practices in the transit industry worldwide.

Face coverings will be mandatory aboard all BC Transit buses beginning Aug.24, exemptions will be made for anyone with an underlying medical condition or disability which inhibits the ability to wear a mask or face covering; persons unable to place or remove a mask or face covering without assistance; children under 5 years of age; employees working behind a physical barrier or within areas designated for employees and not for public access; and police, employees, or first responders in an emergency situation.
