Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Prince George.
The national forecaster says there is the risk of a severe thunderstorm this afternoon. Showers are also expected today with wind gusts to 50.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” says Environment Canada.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
