Kin Centres opening a success. So far.

“Really our winter ice program kicks off in early October,” explains Adam Davey, Director of Community Services and Public Safety. “That’s where we’ll see the big surge. But, as it stands with the new rules, we’re still limited to fifty people and really, while we are moving into a cohort system, we’re still not sure what hockey will look like in the fall.”

Registration for use of the Aquatic Centre kicked off Monday, with the pool opening on September 8th. Council also heard that, along with the lanes, the lazy river and the hot tub, the one-metre springboard will also be accessible.

Also, Mayor Lyn Hall has asked staff to look at opening the CN Centre for walking as we head into winter.

“I met with two representatives from the Council of Seniors and we talked about seniors being able to access walking areas particularly in the winter.”

A report on the feasibility opening the CN Centre to walkers will come back at the October 5th Council meeting.
