City installs new intersection lights

PRINCE GEORGE—Signals are coming soon to the intersection of Domano Blvd. and St. Lawrence Ave./Gladstone Drive in lower College Heights.

The City of Prince George is beginning their construction work on the project today (Sept.14) to improve street flow for surrounding residential and recreational areas, while also improving intersection and road safety.

Once installation is complete the intersection will feature “permissive left turns,” meaning cars will be able to turn on the green light, when it is safe to do so. The new lights will operate similarly to the ones installed in 2019 on 22nd Ave. and Ospika Blvd.

Lights will remain green on Domano until vehicles approach the intersection on Gladstone Dr. or St. Lawrence Ave. The intersection will also feature vehicle detection technology and pedestrian-activated crosswalks.

Construction on the project is expected to take close to two months and be complete by the middle of November. The City says periodic traffic disruption may occur at times and ask drivers to follow on-site signage and directions from road crews.
