Possible tsunami threat for B.C.

SAND POINT, ALASKA–UPDATE: A tweet by Emergency Information B.C. confirms there is no tsunami threat to B.C.

EARLIER: Emergency Information B.C. says they are assessing the risk of a tsunami after an earthquake in Alaska.

A tweet by Emergency Info B.C. says that a 7.5 magnitude earthquake took place near Sand Point, Alaska earlier today.

An assessment is in progress at this time to determine whether or not there is a tsunami threat for B.C. A tsunami warning has been placed for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula.

An earlier tweet by Emergency Info B.C. had in fact declared a tsunami warning for the province, however, has since been corrected to an evaluation.
