An early morning shooting on New Years Day at Cluculz Lake has resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m., Vanderhoof RCMP received a report of the discharge of a weapon at a home on Cluculz Lake.

The RCMP North District Emergency Response Team was also deployed to help maintain the situation.

Officers contained the property which was located at the 5700-block of Meier Frontage Road.

It is believed a verbal dispute between multiple individuals inside the home led to a physical altercation which then escalated to shots being fired.

A 45-year-old Cluculz Lake man and a 37-year-old Vanderhoof woman were taken into custody without further incident by the North District Response Team.

The woman has since been released unconditionally, without charge. However, the man does remain in police custody facing potential criminal charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
