PRINCE GEORGE – The Association of Mineral Exploration forum is back and for the first time ever, it is virtual.

Remarkably, investment in mineral exploration has been very robust, despite the pandemic.

“Obviously we’re assisted by high commodity prices,” noted Premier John Horgan in his keynote address. “And we had the highest investment in mineral exploration last year since 2012.”

And the minister for Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, Bruce Ralston told the forum attendees that the mining sector will be key to the Province’s Clean BC plan and its commitment to safety, the environment and First Nations reconciliation will make BC a market of choice.

“We focussed on becoming the supplier of choice for the growing responsible raw materials market and attract attention to the growing environmental, social governance-focused investment sector that is now valued at over 100 trillion dollars globally.”

But, the premier also spoke about the significance of the industry to the future economy of the province.

“Re-building our economy coming out of COVID-19 is going to be a massive job and at the centre of that is our resource industries, particularly mining and mineral exploration,” says Horgan.
