LITTLE PRINCE

Little Prince pulled out of hibernation for maintenance

PRINCE GEORGE – It didn’t end up running last year due to COVID-19, but there are hopes it will this year.

Locals helped do that maintenance on Wednesday, re-doing wheel bearings, and replacing sheet metal that was corroding.

An anonymous local sheet metal business even helped with that, donating the sheet metal needed to do the work over the steam engine.

Those on-site said that steel had not been replaced since the train was refinished back in the 1970s.

Nick Chapman, Steam Locomotive Engineer said it was work required, and with a sunny day in the city, it was a good time to do it.

The Little Prince also needs some painting and woodworking help as well, those who run the fixture at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, say if any professional painters are willing to donate time to reach out to the Exploration Place.

Those who run the historic train say they are very thankful for the donation of sheet metal, which will keep the train running for many years to come.
