PRINCE GEORGE – A former mill worker is frustrated with the province’s forestry retirement bridging program.

The program won’t allow Gerry Dombrowski to return to the workforce for a year-and-a-half, all while the industry tries to keep up with lumber demands.

According to Dombrowski, his skill set as a millwright is in high demand because of the record high need for lumber.

Prince George-Mackenzie Liberal MLA Mike Morris, says “the initial reason for the bridging program exists today. The province will see more rationalization of mills across BC and probably won’t see the number of mills in operation today, probably this time next year.”

At this point, Dombrowski will continue to wait out his 18 months to return to the workforce.
