Prince George Track and Field Club looks to spring into action after last year’s hurdles
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Track and Field Club suffered a shortfall financially after last year’s season was cancelled, moved to a later date and then cut short.
For the Club, that forced them to look at how they would survive and late last year they found the answer. Back in December they applied for the Local Sport Relief Fund that viaSport was providing and in January of this year they were one of 11 local sports organizations to receive that support.
“It actually went to cover our short season that we had last year, because we ran quite a deficit, so our dollars went to covering our facility costs, our coaches and all the COVID paraphernalia needed to run even an outdoor sport during this crazy, crazy year,” said Elena Thomas, President of the Prince George Track and Field Club.
