Multi-vehicle crash closes Highway 16 in Jasper National Park

JASPER — Mounties are busy investigating a serious multi-vehicle collision on Highway 16, located near the Jasper Airport within Jasper National Park.

RCMP say an initial investigation has revealed that vehicles heading eastbound had slowed for wildlife crossing Highway 16, leading to a serious collision involving a total of four vehicles.

“This collision resulted in two seriously injured persons and STARS air ambulance has been deployed. Further details regarding this collision are not yet available as this investigation is still unfolding,” says Cpl. Deanna Fontaine.

Jasper RCMP remain on scene and the RCMP Collision Analyst will be assisting in the investigation.
