BC Wildfire update: Here’s the latest

PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Wildfire Service has provided an update on the wildfire situation in British Columbia.

As of this (Friday) morning, there are 274 fires burning province-wide, including 53 in the Prince George Fire Centre.

Here’s the rest of the statistics as of 7 p.m. (Pacific time) on July 22.

* Since April 1:
* 1,187 wildfires

* 360,835 hectares burnt

* Evacuation alerts: 78 (-1)

* Properties:
* Number of properties on order: 5,084 (+733)

* Number of properties on alert: 17,489 (-202)

* Vancouver Island Central Coast: zero

* Northwest: three orders, 4 (-1) alerts

* Northeast: four orders, 16 alerts

* Central: 44 (+10) orders, 48 (+4) alerts

* Southeast: seven (-2) orders, eight (-4) alerts

* Southwest: zero orders, two alerts
