Retired pilot running for Christian Heritage Party in Cariboo-Prince George

VANDERHOOF — Henry Thiessen is taking a second run at federal office.

The retired helicopter pilot and Vanderhoof resident has thrown his hat in the ring for the Christian Heritage Party (CHP).

Thiessen ran for the CHP in the 2011 federal election, placing fifth out of seven candidates.

So, why run again?

“It gives me a platform to speak to the issues,” he told CKPG Today. “I’ve been censored on so many levels trying to speak to the issues, particularly around this COVID business, because if you don’t follow the government narrative, you don’t get a platform.”

He says running for office allows him to speak to issues like abortion, euthanasia, COVID-19 that he would never be able to speak to otherwise.

But it’s COVID-19 that has him most concerned at the moment.

“We’re not being given the truth. If you look at the statistics, the numbers don’t justify the actions. What we’ve seen is that the lockdowns are far more dangerous to people’s mental health that the actual virus is. We’ve had such a high survival rate.”

Thiessen is one of six candidates running in Cariboo-Prince George. The others are incumbent Conservative candidate Todd Doherty, NDP candidate Audrey McKinnon, Green candidate Leigh Hunsigner-Chang, People’s Party of Canada candidate Jeremy Gustafson and Liberal Party of Canada candidate Garth Frizzell.

Advance polls opened today and run through Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. General voting day is scheduled for September 20.
