QUESNEL— Quesnel RCMP say they’re entering the arrest phase of an investigation that targeted drug trafficking in the community, with a goal of decreasing the rate of overdose deaths.

After Quesnel RCMP responded to 12 overdose deaths in the community in 2020, the detachment pro-actively targeted drug dealers and their criminal enterprises.

In summer 2021, Quesnel RCMP entered a drug investigation named Project ENANDU, where undercover officers made multiple purchases of illicit drugs from 12 drug dealers in and around the downtown core over a six-day period.

According to police, Project ENANDU resulted in the seizure of 400 grams of methamphetamine, 120 grams of cocaine, 100 grams of heroin and fentanyl, one firearm, and $8,000 in cash.
