PRINCE GEORGE – It’s truly something you don’t see every day.

Friday morning a small group of paella protesters took to the sidewalk near Cimo Mediterranean Grill on Victoria street demanding their dish.

“Well I went on vacation and had some really good paella, and when I came home I asked the owner of Cimo Craig Briere if he would make it for me,” said Dave Mothus, one of the paella protesters. “He basically told me it was really complex to make, and it would probably take too long for people to wait for, and I didn’t like that answer.”

Mothus said that was when he started planning his demonstration.

“I did some youtube investigating and I’m pretty sure now the thing to do when someone doesn’t do what you want is make signs and protest so, I got some friends together and we’re protesting Cimo to make paella,” said Mothus.

Paella is considered to be one of the best-known dishes in Spanish cuisine. There are many modern variations of the signature Spaniard plate including seafood, duck, chicken, vegetarian, etc. the list goes on.

According to the passionate protesters who battled the elements on a brisk November Friday morning downtown Prince George, their dish being served locally is well pasta-due.

“So you’re trying to tell me Dave Mothus is trying to make paella great again? Wow.” said Craig Briere, Owner of Cimo.

Briere said he appreciates the spirit and input of Mothus but at least for now, paella will not be on the menu.
