The Makerie: Amplify Prince George
Located in downtown Prince George, The Makerie is a craft & coffee bar that encourages the community to flex their creative muscles while enjoying specialty coffee and teas. They pride themselves on being a hands-on maker space, and being a spot for the crafty and not-so-crafty alike.
The Makerie hosts a wide range of crafting projects & events. Every Friday night, they host a “Friday Night Paint Night”, and throughout the year offers other activities through their “Craft Menu”, where the community can see all their planned & upcoming crafting sessions. Other activities include crafts like painting terracotta pots, creating a custom felt pennant, live model sculpting, and ugly holiday sweater making parties. The business has also served as a venue for live music & performances, hosting quite a few acts since The Makerie opened up in the middle of the pandemic.
Kim Hayhurst, owner of The Makerie, states “we really wanted to bring a place where adults would feel safe to play, get messy, and get a break from structure & schedules”.
