Food, fun, and giving back: things to do in PG this holiday season

PRINCE GEORGE—The holidays are just around corner. Some might travel to tropical locations, but others will be choosing to stay here.

Even with the thickest coats, hats, and gloves, many places are serving up joy and warmth this holiday season.

White Goose Bistro will be hosting its annual free turkey dinner on Christmas day.

Customers can join in on the free meal from 11-2PM that day or order for take-out. Those who choose to dine-in will enjoy entertainment provided by the restaurant as well.

There are also some open slots for potential entertainers.

“I still do need a few people to volunteer, we like to do half hour slots so we got a couple already reserved. If anyone knows anyone that can come sing some carolers, it can be bands, it can be solo artists.” said Fallon Moreland, Owner of White Goose Bistro.

If it’s not a meal you’re looking for, but rather some family fun, then Game Changerz VR is the place to be.

The owners are offering a free ride on their simulator in exchange for donations that goes towards helping animals.

“All of the animals that they bring in, go to foster homes and so we wanted to help out those foster homes with as much as we could.” said Lianne Wagner, Co-owner of Game Changerz VR.

Supplies like blankets, food, and more are welcomed through the end of the month.

But if you’re just looking to give the spirit of the holidays back to others, then you help feed others at the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society.

It costs over $28,000 a year ($75 a day) to feed staff and residents at the society. That’s why they’re launching the Give a Gift campaign.

Monetary donations will go towards buying groceries, but non-perishables are also being accepted.

“We care not just for our guests but our friends and family. So we love when the whole dining room is full and people are eating and sharing a meal. There’s nothing more important than family sharing a meal together.” said Donna Flood, Executive Director for PGHPCS.

Whether it’s food, entertainment, or just giving back. Prince George offers lots this season.
