Lambda Cabaret ordered closed after defying health orders

PRINCE GEORGE- It was a pandemic party last weekend downtown Prince George as the Lambda Cabaret re-opened despite public health orders banning nightclubs.

Several videos posted by the business show dozens of patrons dancing, drinking, with no sign of any face masks.

“You know, it’s really just a slap in the face to our healthcare workers,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC’s Provincial Health Officer.

One patron contacted CKPG News and said it was so crowded within the club that he decided to leave, and had actually tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

The pandemic party breaks BC COVID-19 public health orders in many ways. Current guidelines state places that do not offer full meal service must close. This includes places like bars, nightclubs and lounges that do not serve meals.

Those who do serve meals and meet all of the other criteria for being open must use the BC Vaccine Card system, something Lambda was not doing either.

A sign on the nightclub’s door states they will not comply with checking proof of vaccination for patrons.

On Wednesday evening Northern Health posted on their website the nightclub was ordered closed for failing to follow public health orders.

It is still unclear how part one of the party was not shut down last weekend in Prince George, RCMP, Bylaw Services, Public Health Inspectors, and others all have the authority to fine and shut the activities down although none of that happened.

CKPG News has reached out to Lambda Cabaret several times for comment and directly to the owner Linda Wolf who was unable to be contacted.
