PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars were swept in their weekend homestand against the Spokane Chiefs.

After a tight 4-3 loss the night prior, the Cougars fell behind early and couldn’t come back en route to a 3-1 loss on Saturday (March 5).

Trailing 2-0 heading into the second period, the Cougars got on the board with Koehn Ziemmer finishing a cross-ice pass from Ethan Samson on the power play. However, the Chiefs answered back one minute later with Nick McCarry scoring his second goal, roofing the puck on a sharp angle shot.

The Cougars outshot the Chiefs 19-9 in the third period but couldn’t find the tying goal.

Prince George has lost six straight games and fall to 19-31-2-1 on the 2021-22 Western Hockey League season. They’re seventh in the Western Conference and fourth in the B.C. Division.

Next up are a pair of home games against the Victoria Royals, starting Friday (March 11) at CN Centre.
