Province to release gas relief plans next week

“First of all, you know British Columbia has been struggling with soaring gas prices long before Putin’s invasion of Ukraine,” said Bond ” We have a Premier that in fact four years ago promised that he was going to do something about the price of gas. So, I think it’s pretty disappointing that we’re now hearing maybe there will be some kind of action taken next week?. British Columbians are struggling, the cost of everything is soaring. it is far too little, far too late.”

In his interview with Global BC, Premier Horgan said the Government needed to approach this with care and not jump to any rash decisions.

“We want to make sure we are going through our processes within government, so we’re making the right choices and not making it worse.”

BC Liberal Critic for Finance Peter Milobar released the following statement in response to the NDP’s recent promise to unveil a plan to address skyrocketing gas prices next week.

“The Official Opposition has been calling on the NDP for action and provided a simple solution — use the already existing carbon credits to provide immediate help,” explains Milobar. “An enhanced rebate using the BC Climate Action Tax Credit would directly help lower and middle-income families. Instead, the government has dithered and is taking in over $1 billion in extra carbon taxes.”

Premier Horgan had said they will release their plans sometime next week.
