Mackenzie Legion Branch 273 needs help to survive

MACKENZIE – Recently the Mackenzie Legion Branch 273 made a tough call out for help.

Current longtime volunteers are burning out, and there is no one to fill their roles. More volunteers are needed for more support, or this legion may not survive.

The Legion Branch 273 is one of the foundations of the community of Mackenzie.

The legion has dedicated core members who volunteer several hours a week. Many of them would like to step away as they have become burnt out.

Those left volunteering help local veterans, support seniors, sports programs, raise funds, or simply offer a place to gather for fun and celebration.

The Legion Branch 273 was established in Mackenzie in 1970.

According to longtime member Sheldon Morris, over the years, it was the place to be on the weekend.

Morris learned many years ago the importance of honouring past sacrifices and what this building means to Mackenzie.

Those interested in helping can contact the Mackenzie Legion Branch 273.
