Training for BC Summer Games gets underway

PRINCE GEORGE – As the BC Summer Games are fast approaching, some training is starting to get underway in preparation. The Canoe and Kayak Club have taken five athletes under their wing to help grow their skill sets before the July events begin.

With the games being just over a month away, the club has six more training sessions which are said to be significantly lower than teams practicing in the lower mainland who are able to practice weekly. And with the unpredictable weather, sometimes their practices have to be postponed. Although with the harsher waters at their training ground, West Lake, they continue to gain a leg up on those coming from other parts of B.C. who may have never paddled in these types of waves.
