Car crossed into semi’s path, causing triple-fatal Kamloops-area crash: RCMP

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say early investigation into a horrific crash north of Kamloops Thursday (June 16) suggests a car crossed into the path of an oncoming semi.

Three people were killed in a crash along Highway 5 near Vinsulla late Thursday morning.

In an email, Sgt. Chris Manseau of RCMP E-Division communications says investigators believe a northbound Nissan car crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound transport truck.

Manseau says, while this is confirmed by witnesses and dashcam footage as the action that led to the crash, it’s not known why the car veered into the oncoming lane.

Three of the four occupants of the Nissan were killed, including two adults and an infant. Three others involved in the collision were taken to hospital, including one who was airlifted in critical condition.
