Rodeo returns to Prince George this weekend

Jun 17, 2022 | 5:25 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – The rodeo grounds at Exhibition Park will once again have bulls, broncs, steers, and calves as Rodeo PG brings back the city’s first full-scale rodeo this weekend in over seven years.

The rodeo will start at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday with gates opening one hour before the events start.

Chris Scott, the vice-president of the Prince George Western Heritage Society, says there’s been $40,000 put into the grounds to replace the chainlink surrounding the ring with new fencing that will allow for better spectating of the action. He hopes the weekend turns out as a success so then Prince George can become a regular stop on the BCRA circuit. Scott believes the Prince George rodeo will eventually become a larger-scale multi-day annual event, similar in scale to the Williams Lake Stampede.
