DAWSON CREEK — A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with a pickup truck in Dawson Creek.

RCMP say the collision occurred just after 10:30 p.m. the night of June 8 on the 1100 block of Alaska Avenue.

“Unfortunately, the 19-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries,” says Cst. Emma Barton. “The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the collision. Criminality is not suspected to be a factor at this time.”

Based on witness testimony and video surveillance, RCMP says it appears that a motorcycle exited the 8th Street traffic circle heading west on Alaska at a high rate of speed. Police say the motorcycle collided with a pickup truck exiting a parking lot onto Alaska Avenue.

“The Dawson Creek RCMP are urging motorists to remain careful when driving at night time and on road with heavy traffic. Obeying traffic rules and regulations and using appropriate safety may save lives,” says Barton. The Dawson Creek RCMP would like to thank the other first responders who attended the scene and the community members who assisted in this investigation.”
