Timberwolves to tipoff 2022-23 season against Spartans at home
PRINCE GEORGE – When the Canada West basketball season tips off this fall, the conference’s 17 schools will see their schedules return to the traditional 20-game format. With this return comes some brewing excitement for the athletes.
“First of all, I’m really excited about getting another season and as you say this a little bit longer. The more games we can get, the better it is,” said Alina Shakirova, fourth-year athlete. “And of course, it’s a bit more exciting to go out of B.C. I feel that even though I really like going to Vancouver it’s always nice to switch it up a little bit, see other matchups, and I think it just makes this season more interesting.”
In 2021-22, Canada West abbreviated its basketball schedules to 16 games and kept teams within their respective division. For the UNBC Timberwolves, that meant competing against the other six British Columbia-based universities.
