Critic weighs in on BC Housing CEO announcing retirement

PRINCE GEORGE – Earlier this week, Shayne Ramsay the CEO for BC Housing announced he would be stepping down from his role after over 20 years on the job.

Ramsay released a letter detailing his reasons for ending his time at BC Housing which included the longtime employee saying he no longer believed he had the confidence to solve the complex problems that face the organization he oversaw since 2000.

In the open letter and a social media thread Ramsay also cited threats to his personal safety as reasons that pushed him into making the decision to step down.

The opposition critic for housing Mike Bernier said Ramsay retiring leaves a massive hole for government to fill.

“When you look at what he was talking about, the stresses he was under, I have to be somewhat critical of government,” said Bernier.
