Watermain break at 15th & Burden discolours water

PRINCE GEORGE — City crews have been busy following a watermain break near 15th Avenue and Burden Street over the weekend.

Some residents have complained to CKPG Today that it has led to some water discolouration and concerns over the safety of the water.

In a Facebook response, the city says:

Staff are doing some excavation work to repair the line and have reversed the direction of some water flow. Properties with no water in the area have received notices hand delivered by City staff.

The work has stirred up sediment in the lines and has discoloured the water in the downtown/lower bowl area. Affected properties should run a faucet until the water runs clear (the biggest faucet is your bathtub, so run it if you’ve got one to flush the water in your home faster!). It is safe to drink. Staff are also working to flush the lines.
