Audrey Leduc breaks women’s 100-metre sprint record to win gold at Canada Games
THOROLD, Ont. — Quebec’s Audrey Leduc broke the women’s 100-metre sprint record Friday en route to gold at the Canada Games.
Leduc ran 11.55 seconds to take down Cindy Moore’s record of 11.56 from 1977.
The 23-year-old’s time was an impressive 0.29 seconds ahead of Katherine Lucas of Team B.C. who finished with silver.
In another record-breaking effort, the Leduc-led Team Quebec won a gold medal in the 4×100 women’s relay with a time of 44.74 seconds, besting the previous mark set by B.C. in 1993.
